The Washington Post reports on the shameful response to the massacre in Uzbekistan:
Defense officials from Russia and the United States last week helped block a new demand for an international probe into the Uzbekistan government’s shooting of hundreds of protesters last month, according to U.S. and diplomatic officials.
Uzbekistan is one of the worst violators of freedom of speech and extensively censors the Internet. It’s not China though, so few seem to care. I know, I know, I’m being cynical.
Uzbekistan is a nominal US ally. So, for example, such improprieties as boiling prisoners to death as a form of interrogation, are overlooked.
